"Results of a national survey of 3,000 women by Mother and Baby magazine along with Persil Non-Bio, show that 81% said they were frightened during labour and birth and 75% said that it was more painful than they could have ever imagined. 86% said that they were in pain after the birth, suffering for an average of 24 days. 57% of all mothers surveyed said that they had not been told the truth in their antenatal classes about the experience of giving birth and almost a quarter of the women said that maternity staff were "lacking in compassion and cold."
